Preston Home

There's a quiet confidence in a home where the kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms all speak the same language. This renovation gets it right with warm timber cabinetry, soft marble-look stone, and brushed metal accents coming together.

There's a quiet confidence in a home where the kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms all speak the same language. This renovation gets it right with warm timber cabinetry, soft marble-look stone, and brushed metal accents coming together in a space that feels considered from room to room.

The Kitchen Built for Living

When you walk into the kitchen a big open benchtop and island, a double-bowl undermount sink and a gooseneck pull-down mixer give the space real everyday capacity one bowl for washing, one for prep or drying, with the tap swinging freely between them. Positioning the sink on the island rather than against the wall also means whoever's at the sink is still facing the room, not staring at a splashback.

Tucked into the same run of cabinetry, the integrated fridge and freezer disappear behind timber-veneer doors that match the rest of the joinery exactly. The kitchen's sightlines never get broken by a stainless steel box, and the whole wall reads as one uninterrupted piece of cabinetry.

Bathroom Sanctuaries with Quiet Fittings

The bathrooms soften the palette slightly, leaning into more marble veining and pared-back fittings, but the same timber tone and stone pairing from the kitchen carries straight through, so nothing here feels like a different house.

Up close, that oval vessel basin sits against a bookmatched marble-look splashback, and it's the stone doing most of the visual work here. The wall-mounted spout and mixer combo keep the plumbing hidden behind the wall, leaving nothing to compete with the oval shaped basin and the veining behind it.

A freestanding bath and a wall-hung vanity sit within one continuous run of large-format floor tile and that's what makes the room feel bigger than its actual footprint.

The Laundry as an Extension of Design

Too often the laundry gets left out of the design conversation entirely. Not here. The same marble-look benchtop from the kitchen continues straight into this room and it's this repetition that makes the whole home feel like one considered project. Paired with a sleek brushed nickel sink mixer, even the most practical corner feels elevated.

Outside Elevated

Out in the alfresco area, a built-in barbecue with its own stainless steel hood and viewing window carries the same standard of finish outdoors. Set into a marble-look benchtop against crisp white cabinetry and subway tile, it turns the outdoor kitchen into a proper extension of the indoor one rather than an afterthought bolted on at the end.
